Enabling Access for Classic M-Files Web and M-Files Mobile

M-Files Web uses Microsoft Internet Information Services and Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2 or
later. These applications must be installed on the
computer that runs M-Files Server before M-Files Web can
be enabled. For instructions on enabling Microsoft Internet Information Services, see
Enabling Internet Information Services (IIS) Components.
Note: If you want to enable classic web and mobile access without the use of a virtual
private network (VPN) for connections outside the private network of your
organization, see Accessing M-Files Vaults without VPN.
To enable classic web and mobile access:
- Open M-Files Admin on the server computer on which you intend to host web and mobile access.
- In the left-side tree view, expand a connection to M-Files server.
- Right-click the connection and select Configure Access to Classic Web and Mobile.

Select the option... If you want to... Use an existing website Modify an existing M-Files Web site. Select the existing site from the Website drop-down menu. Create a new website Create a new M-Files Web site within IIS. Enter the name of the site in the Name field and the TCP for connecting to the site in the TCP port field. The TCP port is 80 by default as it is the most common TCP port for web servers. If you use any other port, you must indicate the port in the URL (http://<domain name>:<port>) to access the site. Create a new virtual directory Create a new M-Files Web site under a virtual directory within an existing website. From the Website drop-down menu, select the preferred existing website and, in the Name field, enter the name of the virtual folder. The URL for accessing the site is thus http://<domain name>/<virtual folder name>. - Click OK.
