M-Files Lifecycle Policy

The M-Files Lifecycle Policy gives you consistent and predictable guidelines for the availability of support throughout the life of a product. The information on this page is subject to change. Return to this site periodically to review any such changes.

Lifecycle Policy for M-Files Online

Feature and security updates are released monthly for M-Files Online. Updates are cumulative: you should always update M-Files Online to the latest version. In other words, M-Files Online remains in support if the following criteria is met:

  1. Customers must stay current as per the servicing and system requirements published for the product or service.
  2. Customers must be licensed to use the product or service.
  3. All updates are available via the standard monthly release cycle and require updating software to the latest monthly update.

Older M-Files Online monthly updates are supported up to 24 months from release date for customers who need more time to test and deploy M-Files Online updates. This means that for example M-Files Online May ’23 Update (release date May 15, 2023) is serviced until May 14, 2025. Customers are entitled to technical product support during the servicing timeline. However, all feature, security, and quality updates for M-Files Online are delivered via the standard monthly updates. Customers must update M-Files Online to the latest version for updates: M-Files does not make service releases for older monthly updates available.

Lifecycle Policy for M-Files Online Long-term Support releases

M-Files Long-term Support (LTS) releases are specific M-Files releases that receive critical security updates and fixes longer than the regular releases. The LTS releases will not receive functional updates: to receive functional updates, customers must update either to the next LTS release or to the latest monthly update.

Receiving updates
The LTS releases receive updates is 18 months from its original release. This means that for example M-Files Online February ’23 LTS Update (release date Feb 19, 2023) will receive updates until Aug 18, 2024.

Receiving support
The 24-month support time for LTS releases begins from the original release date of. This means for example that if the February ’23 LTS version receives a service release in May ’24, it is serviced until February ’25, not May ’26.
